Overview

SAIC provided full architectural and engineering design services for the development and construction of Wal-Mart retail centers ranging in size from 82,000 square feet to 195,000 square feet, and for Sam’s Club stores, in approximately the 105,000 square feet range. SAIC created and designed prototypes for Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club, and then provided civil engineering and design services to site adapt these prototypes in locations throughout the United States.

SAIC project services included:

  • Design of special elevations and building configurations through rendered three-dimensional models
  • Design implementation
  • Development of multi-discipline construction documents for permit and bidding purposes
  • Value engineering on initial prototypes with a continuing effort to identify possibilities for cost reduction
  • Prototype management
  • Obtaining building permits
  • Code review
  • Construction administration on behalf of the owner

SAIC’s expertise in navigating the various planning and zoning authorities, building departments, and state agencies was leveraged to provide smooth integration for Wal-Mart in developing projects often subject to political encumbrance.
